Ladies Evening 5th March 2011

The Ladies Evening is fast approaching and behind the scenes, unbeknown to many, there are frantic efforts taking place to ensure the evening is a major success. The WM Jim McNally and Elizabeth have made huge efforts on planning, menus, and seating, entertainment, lighting and the thousands of other details that make celebrations look effortless. Guests and members number over 130 so far and they are in for a wonderful evenings entertainment from one of the country’s finest voices, “Stephen Baylis”.

We decided to book the Dunkenhalgh Hotel for our Ladies Evening some time ago, as we feel it’s the perfect location for dinning and the entertainment we have planned for the evening. The Pendle Suite banqueting room couldn’t be better named and it can certainly hold the number of Ladies and their partners who we are looking forward to welcoming on the night. For those guests and friends who want to make a weekend of the event Jim & I have arranged a preferential room rate of £80.00 per room inc. breakfast and if you really want to push the boat out and stay over for two nights the room rate is £70.00 per room per night. The Hotel also has a fabulous Spa and health suite with full use included in your stay.

The meal at the Ladies Evening is based on a three course set dinner at a cost of £27.00 per head. For those who haven’t visited this hotel before, The Dunkenhalgh and Spa hotel is a 700 year old building which you approach down a beautiful tree lined drive, it has retained many of its original features over the years and the expansion and refurbishment of the property have been done with care in order to retain its character and charm. The hotel’s 175 rooms blend age old comfort with modern design. The restaurant has been awarded 1 Rosette and sources only the finest ingredients in order to create to some beautiful dishes. The Cameo bar is a wonderful place to relax in and there is also a bar menu if you’re looking for something a little less formal. We both feel sure you will have a wonderful evening, and possibly weekend, with us at the Dunkenhalgh. See you on the 5th March

Elizabeth and I were simply amazed at Stephen Bayliss when we saw him perform and heard his silky smooth voice a few years ago. We knew then we had found the ideal package for our ladies evening. Stephen’s exciting career started around 1989 with two friends writing original, critically acclaimed soul songs. Around 1993 Stephen was handpicked to be part of Sir Cliff Richard’s ‘Access all Areas’ tour, this gave him invaluable performance experience in front of massive audiences, after that tour, he joined up with three accomplished musicians to form the band Hothead. Hothead had a diverse range of influences and directions, sewn together by Stephen’s smooth soulful voice. All this experience forged him into a complete artist in every aspect and Stephen continued to grow and became one of the UK’s most successful performers, selling out every concert he plays. In 2003 Stephen produced and appeared in his own theatre shows entitled ‘All Night Long’ and ‘Let There Be Love’. Featuring music from the swinging 50s through to soul classics like ‘Fly Me to the Moon’, ‘Let there be Love’ and including Lionel Richie’s ‘All night long’ of course! The show also proved to be a platform for his much requested and anticipated original material.

Stephen has a unique ability to unite all generations on the dance floor with his powerful delivery of songs from the 50s through to the present day. Charity fund raising work is close to Stephen’s heart, Breast Cancer Care’s ‘Big Kiss’ event being an annual event he is involved with, Help the Aged, Derian House Children’s Hospice some of the other charities Stephen has supported. You will find Stephen a truly gifted and talented entertainer with the most amazing voice.
