Wycoller Lodge of Mark Master Masons 1582, who meet at Colne Masonic Hall will be hosting a Kinship meeting on the 16th April 2014 at 7:00 pm. The brethren of Wycoller are made up mainly of the craft masons from Colne and Nelson Lodges, with many of them being Pendle Lodge members.
Now you may ask what is a Kinship Meeting, and seeing as I was sat next to the Provincial Grand Master when I asked the question, he said look it up. According to the Cambridge definition it means ” a feeling of being close or similar to other people or things:” and that’s pretty much what the evening is about.
We are looking to attract new Craft Masons into Wycoller Mark Lodge and a Kinship Evening is an opportunity for those interested to pay a visit and experience that feeling of familiarity with the unique brand of Mark Masonry. You will recognise many of the faces present and lots of the imagery and working tools on display will be very familiar. The difference is in the journey to understanding what you are seeing. It’s a great degree and the ceremony is one of the most interesting and dynamic that you could be associated with.
The Provincial Grand Master Keith Schofield, who is a member of Wycoller Lodge, will be heading the evening with an accompaniment of Mark Provincial Officers in support. They will explain a little about the degree and the lodge officers followed by an opportunity to ask questions of the Provincial Team. We will then retire to the social board where our visitors will have the opportunity to meet the brethren of Wycoller and hopefully express some interest in the degree.
As the DC of Pendle Lodge, and also the WM of Wycoller Lodge I ask you to consider your Freemasonry and ask the question is their room for the Mark Degree. As I have said, it’s a unique ceremony but a familiar and very comfortable brand of Masonry. You will know many of the brethren involved, and I strongly encourage you to ask them about the Mark Degree. There is great camaraderie within Wycoller Lodge plus we also have our very own Provincial Grand Master as a member. It doesn’t get better than that.
