The Royal Arch Dinner at Nelson House, Burnley on Friday, April 10th attracted Companions, Brethren and their Ladies from all over the Northern Area. In addition, the occasion was further enhanced by the presence of EComp Paul Aspinall, PGStB, the APGP for this area, together with EComp John Farrington, PGStB, who, in his Craft guise is the APGM for Burnley and Pendle. Despite being a “black tie” event, the emphasis was firmly placed on everyone
having a relaxing evening, with time to meet and talk, whilst enjoying a superb “Nelson House” meal. The four courses, including a mouth-watering braised steak, were beautifully presented and efficiently served. After the repast, a presentation on the Royal Arch was given by the District Officer, Royal Arch, EComp Trevor Thomas PP1stAGS in the Burnley Chapter room, which was almost completely filled by an interested and inquiring audience. EComp Thomas attempted to convey some of the essence of this wonderful order, whilst leaving plenty to be discovered by any prospective candidate. O
n returning to the festivities the very talented singer, Mr. Rae Grant, entertained the company for the remainder of the evening, only taking a break when EComp Phil Preston conducted the raffle in his own inimitable style. The generosity of all present, perhaps encouraged by the array of expensive prizes, assisted in raising a total of £612.00 towards the RMBI Festival and grateful thanks must go to all who sponsored items and of course, all who took part.
