Financial assistance and support is one thing, but getting out into the community and volunteering our support and time is something Freemasons are also good at.
A goodly number of Freemasons from the Burnley and Pendle District arrived early morning at Towneley Hall for the 7:55 am Marshalls meeting. It was a glorious sunny day and along with several thousand runners, we were about to enjoy it.
Luckily we had drawn section 1 of the run to Marshall, which included the cafe and toilets, how lucky was that.
Further down the park, several brethren from local lodges had set up the information trailer to promote Freemasonry in general and reported quite an interest from some of the male runners and spectators.
The rain held off for most of the 10K event and the winner came home in under 34 minutes. It took me longer than that to walk back to my car.
The Freemasonry trailer looked very impressive. It’s a well-made structure and does the job really well. Pity we weren’t allowed to use the generator, which is health and safety gone mad so that we could run both of the TV’s on the day.
The more we are seen in the community doing our thing the better.
